Every Child Matters, the DfES five year strategy for Children, Learners and Young People sets out a vision for all children.

West Sussex aims to be a place where all children and young people enjoy healthy and safe lives as confident, high achieving learners and valued contributors in their communities.

    Every child should:
        * Enjoy good physical and emotional health and choose to live a healthy life.
        * Be protected from harm and grow up able to look after themselves.
        * Achieve the highest possible standards, enjoy their learning and develop
a broad range of skills for their adult lives.
        * Participate constructively in their community and be valued for their contribution.
        * Be well prepared for work and aspire to achieve their potential in life.

Behaviour

The general behaviour of pupils is a matter of considerable importance contributing to your child fulfilling their learning potential. Personal qualities of honesty, kindness, fair dealing and social responsibility are encouraged, whilst politeness and respect are regarded as the basis of positive relationships between pupils and staff.

Close co-operation between teachers and parents is expected and valued.
Our Behaviour Policy.

School Council

The children elect their representatives to sit on the School Council, the majority being in Year 3.  They are responsible for auditing and ordering new playground equipemnt and run some stalls at school fairs.

They also play an important role in ensuring children are supported both within school and at playtimes.

How we behave in and around School

    * We expect good manners, politeness and courteous behaviour.
    * The Children will move from the playground area into school, without the need
for whistles, bells or lines, the adult asking the child to walk quietly.
    * At the beginning of the day, the children will put their belongings away tidily
and know what they are expected to do after that.
    * At any time the children are exected to move around the School in a calm
      and sensible manner.
    * In the classroom we expect the children to be concentrating on their work.
    * Rough play will not be tolerated either in or outside the classroom.
    * Children are expected to show respect for each other, adults working in School,
School property and their own and other peoples belongings.
    * The children are expected to listen to other people, not to shout out and not to
talk when others are talking, awaiting turns in the conversations.
    * The children are expected to do as they are requested by all the adults in the
       school
    * At the end of the day the children will tidy the classroom, ready for the following
      days work.
