We aim, through the study of English, to help children develop the skills necessary to communicate purposely and creatively through speech, listening, reading and writing. Children begin as developing readers and writers and are presented with a structured, sound, lively and challenging teaching programme of reading and writing activities which enables their confidence to grow whilst offering support and progression throughout their learning. The daily Literacy hour with its detailed planning provides the scaffolding the child needs in order to access the whole curriculum.
